Motherhood is an incredible journey, which is why I feel so fortunate to experience every joyful (and tough - let’s be real) moment with my mom by my side. She is the kind of person that has a heart full of love for everyone around her. She has always held my hand when I needed her to, just like she kicked my ass when I needed her too, haha! Everyone who knows her knows this - she is always there to listen, laugh, and offer advice whenever needed.

And if there’s anything I learned from my mom, it’s that details matter. I know this because she threw the most outstanding baby shower I could ever ask for.

She always makes me feel special and my baby shower was no different. She even insisted on me making a classic Hayley entrance to the party! Little did she know - I would enter and start by addressing the group of ladies with an impromptu speech to give my mommy dearest well deserved recognition. I wanted to thank her for the things she does for me and my growing family in addition to the extended friends and family with whom she is always there for. My true words of how incredible my mother is and how much our mothers mean to us all left all of my family and friends reaching for a tissues.

You can tell by the photos below that mom deserves eeevery word of praise. The theme for the baby shower was 50 Shades of Pink. Between the perfectly color coordinated dessert bar and Pinterest-worthy party decor, my mom nailed it! The room was buzzing with happiness and filled with love.

One of my favorite moments from my baby shower creating a new tradition. Passing down tradition is something we love to do. I had the privilege of wearing a fresh floral hat which my mother was famously photographed at her own baby shower wearing in the 80’s when she was pregnant with me! It was yet another detail that made me excited to be mommy to my own baby girl. Passing down traditions big and small and all very us!

I can’t forget what I almost forgot - the gifting at the party! I’m always one to shy from opening gifts in front of others, but it turned from awkward to ultimately being super sweet. One gift I wanted to share with you all came from my Auntie. She hand-knit a blanket and delivered it with a lesson. She said, “It’s still damp and has a few mistakes, but you’ll learn in motherhood that it’s okay to make mistakes!”

I couldn’t be more confident in welcoming motherhood because of the many strong, wise, and loving women in my life. Happy Mother’s Day!
